Body waxing has, with good reason, been steadily gaining popularity as a safe and affordable form of hair removal. Even though it's relatively simple, if you've never tried it before it can be a little scary for a first-timer. The worst part is always the unknown. What should you expect? Here are some of the most common questions that I've been asked about what to expect from a personal waxing service and the answers apply, whether you're considering waxing your legs, your eyebrows, or your bikini area.

How long does a typical waxing last for?

The waxing session for each customer is individual; therefore the waxing time estimate is approximate and can vary from person to person, depending on area waxed. In addition, new hair follicles will not typically grow back in the previously waxed area for about a long, two to four weeks.

Is waxing good or beneficial to one?

Waxing in fact, is a non harmful procedure: There remains a variety of benefits that will come from waxing ones body or body parts, as a primary method of successful hair removal. The biggest benefit of waxing is how effective the hair removal is and the amount of hair that can be removed at once is a large mass of hair follicles. Better than just shaving in many ways because when hair follicles are merely shaven the hair is in fact removed only from the surface of the skin and not from the root. When waxed, the thin, top surface layer of the skin is removed as well, exfoliating and accentuating the skin and its appearance. Waxing methods will prevent annoying and unwanted hair re-growth that comes back bolder and rougher in texture. Areas of the body that have been waxed efficiently will remain hair-free for elongated periods of time and when it does grow back, it will be softer, smoother and lighter in appearance and color.

How should I prepare myself before a wax?

Normally we suggest to shower or a quick rinse before your appointment. It's best to speak to your wax tech before trimming to see if it is needed. *There will be an extra charge for trimming. No sun exposure 48 hours prior to waxing, lightly exfoliate the day before waxing (legs), but not required. No oils, lotions, powder, perfumes, deodorant, etc. needed.

Could I be waxed during my menstrual cycle?

You can be waxed, but when you are on your menstrual cycle you tend to be more sensitive due to the change of hormones and this could cause the treatment to be more painful.

Will the treatment hurt?

All depends, first time receiving waxing can be uncomfortable because after shaving for years the hair grows extremely coarse. The more frequent you receive waxes the hair will begin to grow thinner. Removing hair directly from the follicle is never comfortable and every body has a different pain tolerance level.

How often should I get bikini waxed?

Every 4 to 6 weeks is the recommended.

Why do people wax?

The reasons are truly personal. An interest in enhancing intimate pleasure, being more hygienic, an improved appearance and feel, sports benefits for athletes, etc. People find that beautifully smooth skin is easier to maintain and more comfortable than shaving every day, not to mention worrying about that unattractive razor stubble.

What areas of the body can be waxed?

The wax can be used on almost any part of the body as needed. Most frequently waxed areas for women are face, underarms, arms, stomach, bikini, etc. For men: chest, stomach, back, arms, legs, underarms, etc.

How long does the hair have to be?

About 1/4 inch, two weeks worth, or just long enough for the wax to grab the hair.

What kind of training do the Wax Specialists go through?

All of our Wax Specialists has to be board certified.

What kind of wax product do you use? Soft, Hard, Roller

What can I do at home to help achieve the best waxing results?

No shaving between visits. Shaving can lead to hair growth in many directions. Additionally, when you shave, your hair will grow in more coarse and thick.

Can bikini waxing be done while I am pregnant?

Yes. The process may be more painful because the area is more sensitive. We recommend checking with your doctor during the last two months of pregnancy.

What about post-waxing skin care?

After each waxing appointment, give your skin a break. Stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours and do not climb into a tanning bed for at least 48 hours or more. Keep your skin clean, dry, and if any irritation occur especially after a brazilian, I recommend applying 100% Witch Hazel. Which Hazel is a natural astringent to assist with closing pores, anti-inflammatory, kills germs, prevent infection, helps sooth your skin, etc. If it does not get better contact your PCP or Dermatologist for further assistance.
